Jump Space
A downloadable game
Jump Space is the hottest spot for aspiring video game characters to learn how to jump. For someone whose jumping isn't exactly in Meat Boy shape, however, it may turn into an embarassing experience, especially with a cheeky narrator supplying commentary along the way.
Inspired by The Stanley Parable, Portal, and pretty much everything by CROWS CROWS CROWS, Jump Space is the heartlukewarming tale of an NPC with a dream of being a real video game character.
This is a prototype made as part of an ongoing project to complete one game per week for the next two months. I may return to this concept in the future to make a completed version of the game.
About Me:
Hey there, my name is Daniel Foutz and this is my first game.
I've recently taken up the challenge to release one game per week (for at least 8 weeks to start). I have from Monday to Sunday each week to work on a new game (or prototype, really, given the time constraint) and release it to the public. At the end of the project, if any of the prototypes show promise, I hope to return to at least one of them to flesh it out into a full game.
My main goal is to learn game development skills and experiment with different genres and game making engines. Jump Space is a GameMaker Studio 2 project.

nice game but i was not able to finish it
The way I do these things is critisisms first and praise later. I also write these comments as I play the game so they might be a bit choppy. First thing, R is reset... I tried to reload the gun. Yeah, did not work, as you might expect. Probably a good idea to remap that to another button that you wouldn't normally press. But other than that a pretty neat game, would recommend. I loved the voice acting, particularly the robot-human whose name I've already forgotten. The concept could easily be expanded into a full game along the lines of quake rocket jumping meets the Stanley parable. Goo job.
Thanks very much! Great point about the R button. It should've been a higher priority to move that function into a menu or at least a more obscure button for sure. I hope you'll stop by for my next game at the end of this week. I really value critical feedback especially since this whole exercise is me trying to improve myself as a dev.

Thanks so much for doing a playthrough! It really helps to he able to watch someone who I don't know personally play through the game to see what makes sense and what doesn't. Looks like the Megalad scene won't be timed perfectly on everyone device, which makes sense now since it's tied to framerate so if you're under 60fps then it could take longer. Good to know for the future!
Anyway, I had great fun watching this and I really appreciate it.
Hey, it was a pleasure playing, for your first project, it's really good work. And yes, I get it I need an upgrade, I do, I know, just have more people watching. Bring on game #2. ;)
Oh no I just meant that I need to make sure to design the game to work on every setup so it's really useful input. And I'll have whatever's next out before next Sunday night :)
I'll be ready when it's out. And I was joking cause I've talking about an upgrade for... some time and I keep postponing. ;)
